Hard Work and Good Food!

These past few days, the United Llamas have been learning a lot about local food and participating in new projects for the community.
We visited a “finca” where they manufacture delicious unrefined cane sugar called “panela” that is really important for the Ecuadorian kitchen!
Here’s Charlotte helping with the process by sifting the panela strongly but with precision to prevent spilling it!
This is Sam, who was brave and decided to try some “Melcocha” straight out of the cane, a delicious product made with roasted peanuts and melted sugar!
The boys went for a stroll around the plantation!
To keep exploring local foods we asked Oliva, one of the most awesome cooks of Las Tolas, to teach us how to make empanadas!

As for our community service projects, we diversified our efforts, helping to set up a water supply for the nursery and starting to paint a mural in the General Rumiñahui school. The mural’s purpose is to raise awareness of the importance of conserving nature for future generations. Here’s some pictures of our awesome Llamas working hard!:
Noa showing off our art!
To celebrate a job well done, we threw a 4th of July barbecue and party!
That’s all for now! We will post more about our adventures very soon.
Chau!
